I was there today and my reactions at the start of the third quarter were something like this:

Hey, Navy forced a fumble and got it. Rock on!
Hey, a second fumble recovery! I like how this is going!
Three? THREE?! Best third quarter ever!

“THE TRIPLE OPTION/VEER/WISHBONE IS A BALL CONTROL, GRIND IT OUT TYPE OF OFFENSE. IT RELIES ON TIME OF POSSESSION, SLOWLY WEARING DOWN ITS OPPONENT. IT LOOKS TO STAY CONSERVATIVE ON FIRST AND SECOND DOWN SO IT CAN STAY AHEAD OF DOWN AND DISTANCE. IT ALSO DEPENDS ON LUCK AND VISCIOUSLY GOING AFTER DEFENDERS’ KNEES.”

DJ – so who is the fool who made that quote. It could have been any announcer who did a Navy game in the last eight years – or any opposing coach for that matter. Let the world keep believing it. It helps Navy when they make up their defensive game plan.

I personnaly believe that if everybody had access to the childhood life that results in becoming a race car driver, only a few of today’s Nascar Drivers would have made it.

I now believe the same about football coaching.

Preparation to defend the option is begging to be outsourced. You could make a ton of money, Mike.
(If you don’t, I might. I just need a year and the last 100 games on tape.)

Of course, then you’d feel like this guy after you helped defeat Navy:

To paraphrase one of his later roles:

To the Imperial Storm Defensive Coordinator:

“This is not the option attack you’re looking for; you want to prepare for the Wishbone.”

Niven was a graduate of the Royal Military College at Sandhurst. For a few really good chuckles, you are invited to read the WWII service section of Major Niven’s Wikipedia page.

DJ, you obviously know nothing about cut blocks. They are perfectly legal; they are used by every team and any player worth his salt knows how to defend against them. Can’t stand getting your clock cleaned, can you?

Pretty sure DJ’s post was sarcasm, given the all caps and quotation marks on it. And the overuse of all the ignorant announcer cliches about our offense.

You’re right, got my British actors mixed up. But I still stand by my Star Wars reference. I saw a him playing a RA officer and thought of Niven. Oops!
